Maria Bucci, M.Ed LPC DWC-F. Daring Way Facilitator by Dr. Brené Brown

Welcome!

My name is Maria Bucci and my mission is to create therapeutic experiences and workshops that help women discover their true self – and live the life they deserve!

I am an experienced counselor that specializes in relationship issues, parenting strategies, and family therapy.

I have over 25 years of experience working as a former teacher, guidance counselor and as a practitioner in private practice with Dr. Todd Kays at the Athletic Mind Institute. Currently, I am providing counseling services through my own business called Wholehearted Workshops where  I specialize in working with couples and families to develop better communication skills and create a personalized strategy plan for them to manage the stress that affects their everyday lives.

I’ve worked with hundreds of parents and couples on how to effectively raise their children together while developing, maintaining or re-discovering their own close emotional bond with their partner.

My extensive training includes working at a social agency for over ten years that provides counseling services to different schools. My work includes developing individual and group counseling sessions on topics such as grief and loss, anger management, divorce, social skills, and other adolescent issues.

I was a crisis intervention counselor for a program that offers at-risk students an opportunity to pursue their education in an alternative school environment.

I’ve completed the Daring Way Certification Facilitator Program in 2014 by Dr. Brené Brown.  I am officially a CDWF!

My work focuses on developing shame resiliency skills and developing daily practices that transform the way we live, love, parent, and lead. We all begin by learning self compassion, vulnerability and the courage to show up and been seen.

My counseling philosophy is to build and enrich my clients’ relationships by individualizing the needs of each person, teaching tools for success and building high-functioning and healthy relationships.

Over the years I have discovered that wholehearted living isn’t something we master, it’s a life long journey of choices we make each and every day!  It’s become my MISSION to help women open their hearts and live fully!

My goal is to provide my clients with the opportunity to explore the therapeutic process in a safe and unconditional environment. I use a blend of progressive and traditional therapies which I have found to be most effective for healing and transformation.

My style is warm and nurturing, relaxed but professional while assisting clients as they process through their challenges and find a resolution. I have a strong background in treating anxiety and depression, body image, trauma and learning to live from a place of wholeheartedness versus perfectionism and self-defeating behaviors.

I am currently offering a series of workshops for women who are interested in living wholeheartedly. The goal of these workshops is to shift the focus from old addicted thinking patterns into giving ourselves the time and space to be vulnerable enough to practice becoming our true self.

Other experience:

I have a Masters of Education degree in Clinical Counseling from the University of Dayton, Ohio and my undergraduate degree in Education from The Ohio State University.

I am a presenter at many workshops for parents, teachers and other counselors that discuss various developmental concerns such as bullying/violence, teaching children responsibility and addressing gender differences in children. More recently, I have been asked to blog for a new web site for women called Mighty Petunia; http:/www.mightypetunia.com

I have been married for over 25 years and have two grown children.

Licensed Professional Counselor and is licensed by the State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker, and Marriage & Family Therapist Board.

Philosophy Statement

There is a part of every single one of us that desires to be heard and understood. Working to let go of old patterns of thinking and exploring new concepts with my clients as they discover their own truth is such a rewarding experience.

I believe we have two lives, one we learn from to find our true self, and THEN the one we live after that! As one of my clients so eloquently said, “I have come a long way; I can see where I was, but where I will never be again. My former self no longer defines me, I do!”

The ability to change is able to happen right now if we allow ourselves the time and the space to be vulnerable enough to practice being our authentic self.
